Student Terms and Conditions

Last updated 25/07/2026

Provider: Hive AI Pty Ltd ABN 37 695 147 203 trading under the registered business name YouHive.

About These Terms

These Student and Candidate User Terms (Terms) govern your access to and use of the YouHive platform, mobile or web applications, websites and related services (Services) as a student, graduate, job seeker, candidate, intern or other individual user (you or your). The Services are provided by Hive AI Pty Ltd, which operates under the registered business name YouHive (Hive AI, YouHive, we, us or our).

These Terms are separate from the Business Subscription Terms that apply to employers, industry partners and participating tertiary institutions. You accept these Terms when you create an account, select an acceptance checkbox or use the Services. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

Eligibility and Account Authority

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. The Services are not directed to children under 16.

You must provide accurate, current and complete information; keep your credentials secure; not share your account; and promptly notify us of unauthorised access.

What the Service May Do

The Services may enable you to create and maintain a student or candidate profile; upload a resume, qualifications, skills, preferences, work history and other career information; search and apply for employment, internship, work-experience and networking opportunities; be discovered, filtered or matched with participating businesses and industry partners; communicate with businesses, tertiary institutions and other authorised participants; receive career, capability, connection and employment information; and participate in surveys, analytics, events or institution-supported employment programs.

YouHive is not your employer, recruitment agent, education provider or legal adviser and is not liable for guaranteeing an interview, placement, employment, payment, academic credit or other outcome.

Your Profile and Visibility Choices

You control the information you submit, subject to platform settings and these Terms. You must ensure that your profile is accurate and that you have the right to upload each document, image and item of content.

The Services must present clear settings or notices explaining which profile information is visible to businesses, industry partners, tertiary institutions or the public. You should not upload unnecessary sensitive information, government identifiers, financial information or health information unless YouHive expressly requests it for a lawful purpose.

Applications, Matching and Employment Decisions

YouHive may use software-assisted search, filtering, recommendations, ranking or matching to identify potentially relevant opportunities or connections. These functions may rely on information provided by you, participating businesses, tertiary institutions and platform activity.

A match or recommendation is informational and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Businesses remain responsible for their recruitment, screening and employment decisions. You should independently assess each organisation, opportunity, role, condition and communication before relying on it.

YouHive will provide a reasonable way to correct relevant profile information and to ask questions or raise concerns about a materially adverse automated or software-assisted outcome where required by law or stated platform policy.

Internships, Placements and Workplace Rights

A business must not use the Services to avoid workplace obligations by labelling productive work as an unpaid internship, volunteer role or work-experience arrangement. If you are an employee, you may be entitled to minimum wages, superannuation and other protections under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), an award, enterprise agreement or other law.

Some placements can lawfully be unpaid. A genuine vocational placement is generally a placement required as part of an authorised education or training course, with no entitlement to pay, that otherwise meets the Fair Work Act requirements. Other short observational or learning arrangements may also be unpaid where no employment relationship exists.

YouHive does not determine your legal status. If an opportunity appears misleading, unsafe, exploitative or improperly unpaid, stop participating where safe to do so, report it through the platform and consider contacting the Fair Work Ombudsman, your tertiary institution, union or an independent adviser.

Modern Slavery, Exploitation and Safety

You must not use the Services in connection with forced labour, servitude, debt bondage, deceptive recruiting, human trafficking, child labour or another form of modern slavery or exploitation. You should promptly report credible concerns about coercion, withheld identity documents, recruitment fees, threats, unsafe conditions or deceptive work arrangements.

YouHive may restrict content or accounts and may refer a serious concern to an appropriate institution, regulator, emergency service or law-enforcement body where permitted or required by law. The platform is not an emergency service.

How We Use Your Information

This section summarises important platform uses. It does not replace the YouHive Privacy Policy or a collection notice shown when particular information is collected.

Subject to applicable privacy law and the Privacy Policy, YouHive may collect, hold, use and disclose information to: create, verify, administer and secure your account and profile; display your authorised profile information and facilitate applications, searches, matches, messages and connections; provide career, employment, internship, networking and institution-supported services; verify information and reduce fraud, misuse, unsafe conduct and exploitation; provide support, investigate complaints and enforce these Terms; operate, secure, analyse, maintain and improve the Services and matching functionality; prepare aggregated or genuinely de-identified analytics about engagement, connections, placements and graduate outcomes; comply with legal obligations and protect users, YouHive and the public; and send operational messages and, where permitted, marketing communications.

Sharing with Participating Tertiary Institutions

YouHive may provide a participating university, TAFE or other education provider with aggregated or genuinely de-identified analytics concerning student-industry connections, applications, placements, employment destinations, industries, roles, locations, skills and graduate outcomes. This information may be supplied as a paid institutional analytics service and may assist an institution to supplement its graduate-outcomes information.

YouHive will take reasonable steps to ensure that information described as de-identified presents a very low risk of you being reasonably identifiable, having regard to small cohorts, unusual combinations of details, granularity, the institution's other datasets and the risk of data linkage.

Refusing optional institutional-sharing consent will prevent you from accessing the core candidate Services. You may withdraw consent for future disclosures by contacting YouHive support. Withdrawal will not necessarily require an institution to delete information already lawfully received where it must retain that information by law.

YouHive will require a recipient institution to use identifiable information only for the disclosed purpose, restrict access, protect the information, comply with applicable privacy laws and not attempt unauthorised re-identification.

YouHive will not share your name, contact details, individual connection history, applications, placements, employer or other student-linked employment information with a participating tertiary institution for institutional reporting, benchmarking or commercial analytics unless: you first receive a clear notice identifying the institution, information, purpose and consequences; you provide separate, voluntary, informed, current and specific opt-in consent; or the disclosure is otherwise permitted or required by law.

Testimonials and Promotional Stories

YouHive may invite you to participate in a testimonial, case study, interview or promotional story about your student-industry connection or employment outcome. Participation is optional. Acceptance of these Terms is not consent to a testimonial.

Before publication, YouHive will seek a separate written release describing the name, image, words, institution, business, role and connection details to be used; the channels and media; any editing; the intended period of use; and how withdrawal requests will be handled. Refusing will not affect your account, opportunities or institution relationship.

Marketing and Unsubscribe

Where permitted by law, YouHive may send you information about opportunities, products, services, events and offers. Marketing consent will be requested separately where required and will not be bundled into acceptance of these Terms.

You may unsubscribe at any time using the facility in the message or by contacting support@youhive.com.au. YouHive will action an unsubscribe request within five working days, without charge, without requiring you to log in and without requesting additional personal information. The facility will remain functional for at least 30 days after the message is sent.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop account, application, security, legal, billing or other operational messages reasonably required to provide the Services.

Acceptable Use

You must not: provide false, misleading, unlawful, discriminatory, defamatory or infringing information; impersonate another person or misrepresent qualifications, experience, identity or work rights; harass, threaten, exploit or discriminate against another user; upload malware, interfere with security or attempt unauthorised access; scrape, harvest, resell or misuse profiles, listings or platform data; reverse engineer, copy or create derivative works from the Services except where the law prohibits that restriction; use the Services for unsolicited marketing, scams, trafficking, forced labour or another unlawful purpose; or circumvent account, access, security or usage restrictions.

Intellectual Property

Hive AI and its licensors own the Services and YouHive Technology, including the platform, software, code, algorithms, models, matching methodologies, databases, interfaces, designs, documentation, confidential methods and know-how. You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the Services under these Terms.

YouHive is a registered business name of Hive AI Pty Ltd. "YouHive", the logo and associated branding are trade marks of Hive AI. Australian Trade Mark Application No 2647017 was filed on 23 April 2026 in Classes 9, 35 and 42. Unless registration is confirmed, the ™ symbol may be used and the mark must not be represented as registered.

You retain ownership of content you upload. You grant YouHive a non-exclusive licence to host, process, copy, display and transmit it only as reasonably required to provide, secure, support and improve the Services, comply with your settings and consents, and comply with law.

Privacy, Security and Retention

YouHive will handle personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy, applicable collection notices and privacy law. YouHive will take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information and will use service providers subject to appropriate obligations.

You may request access to or correction of personal information as described in the Privacy Policy. YouHive may retain information for as long as reasonably required for the Services, legal obligations, safety, disputes and legitimate record-keeping, then delete or de-identify it in accordance with its retention policy.

Third-Party Organisations and Links

Businesses, institutions and linked services have their own terms and privacy practices. YouHive is not responsible for a third party's independent conduct, representations, workplace, opportunity, website or data handling, but this does not exclude responsibility for YouHive's own acts or omissions.

Suspension, Closure and Data Export

You may close your account through account settings or by contacting support. YouHive may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address a material breach, fraud, safety or security risk, unlawful conduct or legal requirement. Where practicable, YouHive will explain the reason and provide a reasonable opportunity to respond.

Before closure or within 30 days afterwards, you may request a reasonable export of your profile information where practicable. Some records may be retained as described in the Privacy, Security and Retention section.

Consumer Rights, Disclaimers and Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law.

Subject to those rights, the Services are provided on an "as available" basis. YouHive does not guarantee uninterrupted access, that every profile or listing is verified, or that a match, communication, internship or employment outcome will be suitable.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, YouHive is not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Where liability cannot be excluded but may be limited, it is limited to resupplying the affected Services or paying the reasonable cost of resupply. This clause does not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Complaints and Disputes

Contact support@youhive.com.au to report a platform, privacy, employment, safety or conduct concern. YouHive will acknowledge and assess a complaint within a reasonable period.

Changes to These Terms

YouHive may update these Terms for legal, security, operational or product reasons. Material changes will be notified in advance by email, platform notice or website publication. If a change materially reduces your rights, it will not apply retrospectively unless required by law. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance after reasonable notice.

General and Governing Law

These Terms and documents expressly incorporated by reference form the agreement about your use of the Services. If a provision is invalid, it is read down or severed and the remainder continues. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of Queensland courts and courts entitled to hear appeals from them.
